What this means for your family

This facility is highly regarded for its short-term rehabilitation services, where patients consistently report excellent therapy and care. However, families considering long-term or memory care should be cautious; multiple reviewers have highlighted significant lapses in weekend staffing, communication, and basic resident needs. We strongly recommend visiting on a weekend to observe staffing levels firsthand before making a decision.

Summerhill Elderliving Home & Care receives highly polarized feedback, with a clear divide between successful short-term rehabilitation patients and long-term care families. While many rehab patients praise the therapy team and facility cleanliness, long-term care families frequently report significant issues with weekend staffing, communication, and basic resident care. Potential families should be aware of recurring complaints regarding call-button response times and inconsistent dietary services.

Questions for Your Tour

  • 1I noticed that the rehab and therapy teams receive high praise; could you explain how those departments coordinate with the nursing staff to ensure a smooth recovery process?
  • 2We understand that communication is vital for families; what is the best way to reach a staff member or nurse manager if we have a question during the weekend or after business hours?
  • 3Regarding the dining experience, how do you handle specific dietary requirements or preferences to ensure meals are served accurately and consistently?

Key Review Excerpts

The rehabilitation team is exceptional—highly skilled, attentive, and truly invested in each patient’s progress.

Rehab patient · 2026★★★★★

During the week service is pretty good, but come the weekends it's a different story. Patients not gotten up to go to the bathroom and are forced to urinate on themselves.

Memory care family member · 2023☆☆☆☆

Worst place ever for the elderly! Really nice CNA staff, that is the only reason I gave one star! We moved our mom out after four days. In the span of those days, she had NO shower (they had no hot water) they forgot to feed her lunch one day.
