What this means for your family

While the facility's marketing and admissions team is highly praised for their responsiveness and the therapy department is well-regarded, there is a consistent pattern of severe staffing shortages and neglect reported by families. We strongly advise visiting during off-hours or weekends to observe staffing levels firsthand and asking specifically about their protocols for resident hygiene and call-light response times.

St. Theresa Care Center (also referred to as Mariemont Care Center) receives highly polarized feedback, with many reviewers praising the marketing and admissions team for a seamless intake process, while others report severe neglect and staffing shortages. Questions for Your Tour

  • 1I noticed the facility has a very active calendar; could you walk me through how you encourage residents to participate in these daily activities?
  • 2Given the importance of consistent care, what specific protocols do you have in place to ensure residents receive timely assistance with personal hygiene and toileting throughout the day and night?
  • 3How does your nursing team manage communication with families to ensure we are kept fully updated on our loved one's health status and any changes in their care plan?
  • 4With the current staffing levels, how do you ensure that your team is able to maintain the high standards of cleanliness and room maintenance that we see in your common areas?
  • 5I see that you have a dedicated physical and occupational therapy department; how do you coordinate those services with the nursing staff to ensure a resident's daily recovery needs are met?
  • 6In the event of a medical emergency, what is your specific process for stabilizing a resident and notifying the family, especially during overnight hours?

Key Review Excerpts

My mom lost drastic weight while here. She was constantly confused, tired and listless. This facility is clearly under staffed. They don’t seem to have protocols or standards for cleanliness.

Long-term resident's family · 2025☆☆☆☆

The cna’s are from an agency so there isn’t consistency, cna’s are not having a meeting with each other before shifts to understand what’s going on with your love one. So they are walking into the residents room not knowing what’s injured or going on.

Family member · 2025☆☆☆☆

The staff never responded to calling the nurse via patient’s room. My father was there for a week. If my father needed any help, I had to go find it.
