What this means for your family

While the assisted living and therapy departments receive consistent praise, the skilled nursing and rehab units have documented issues with medication delays and neglect. If considering this facility, we strongly recommend requesting a tour specifically of the unit your loved one will occupy and asking for a clear plan on how call-bell response times and medication administration are monitored.

Sprenger Health Care of Port Royal presents a stark contrast between its modern, physically beautiful facility and significant concerns regarding clinical care and communication. While many families praise the assisted living staff and therapy teams, numerous reviewers report severe neglect in the skilled nursing and rehab units, including delayed medication, poor wound care, and unresponsive nursing staff. Families should be aware that experiences appear highly inconsistent depending on the specific unit and staff on duty.

Key Review Excerpts

My husband was there for SNF after a knew replacement. He did not have a great experience. Meds were not given when they should have been. He was in so much pain the first night due to getting medication. It took initially 12 hours after arriving to receive medication.

Rehab patient's family · 2024☆☆☆☆

My Mother was put here on the 7 th of July for rehabilitation. She received NO rehabilitation! The facility is way under staff!!. The director will not help you, Mary Carl. She did not have a bath ever, dirty hair. We asked every day for help. She is bruised.

Long-term resident's family · 2022☆☆☆☆

My grandfather is staying here in the nurse care unit. He has been there for 10 months and his health is better than it has been in years. He is well enough to move to assisted living but he likes the nurse care staff so much at nurse care that he wants to stay there.
