What this means for your family

This facility has a high volume of serious reports regarding patient neglect, hygiene, and unresponsive staff. While some reviewers mention improvements in activities, the recurring reports of stage 4 bedsores and lack of basic care are critical red flags; we strongly recommend looking for alternative facilities.

Key Review Excerpts

My sister choked while waiting to be suctioned on Monday September 2, 2024. By the time someone checked on her, she had no pulse. After 8 rounds of CPR, she was sent to the MUSC ICU. She was declared brain dead and, today September 7, 2024, she was taken off the vent and died less than 5 minutes later.

Riverside Health and Rehab has a concerning pattern with multiple families filing complaints that triggered inspections, particularly regarding abuse protection and resident safety. The facility has recurring issues with resident rights, safety hazards, and medication management across surveys from 2022 to 2024. While all deficiencies show correction dates, the repeated problems in critical areas like accident prevention and abuse protection suggest ongoing challenges with maintaining consistent care standards.
