What this means for your family

PruittHealth-Walterboro has a strong reputation for effective physical therapy and rehabilitation, making it a potential candidate for short-term recovery. However, families must be vigilant regarding basic care; we strongly recommend frequent, unannounced visits to ensure your loved one is being turned, changed, and responded to promptly, as multiple reports of neglect remain a serious concern.

Key Review Excerpts

My Mother has been through a lot these past 5 months. From the hospital to multiple facilities and back. Pruitt Health of Walterboro made her feel comfortable and went above and beyond to make sure she got the therapy she's suppose to.

Long-term resident's family · 2024★★★★★

The entire staff has worked diligently to help my dad regain his strength in hopes of being able to go home before the end of the year. Their physical and occupational therapy teams have really helped him immensely.

Long-term resident's family · 2025★★★★★

Nurses not responding when the nurse call button is activated ( pressed ). Jocelyne is bed ridden and has spent hours in a soiled/urinated,wet diaper. Thie has led to bed sores which can lead to infection.

1deficiencies
Well below state avg (3.7)
2 complaint-triggered
$12,263 in fines

This facility has concerning patterns with families filing five complaints leading to deficiencies, including serious issues around abuse protection and medication management. The most recurring problems involve dietary services (food safety appearing three times), resident rights violations, and quality of care issues like respiratory and bladder care. While all deficiencies show correction dates, the persistence of dietary problems across multiple recent surveys and the complaint-triggered findings around abuse protection warrant careful consideration during any visit.
