What this means for your family

While the rehabilitation therapy team is frequently praised for helping patients regain strength, the facility has a long-standing history of serious neglect and hygiene issues. If you consider this facility, you must be prepared to visit daily to ensure your loved one's basic needs for hygiene, hydration, and nutrition are met, as response times to call lights are a recurring point of failure.

PRUITTHEALTH - LANIER presents a deeply polarized experience for families, with many reviewers praising the physical therapy and rehab teams for helping patients regain mobility, while a significant number of others report severe neglect, poor hygiene, and communication failures. Families frequently cite concerns regarding slow response times to call lights, inadequate staffing, and a persistent odor of urine in the facility. While some report positive experiences with specific staff members, the recurring reports of patient neglect and poor facility maintenance suggest a high-risk environment for vulnerable residents.

Questions for Your Tour

  • 1I noticed the facility has a strong reputation for physical and occupational therapy; how do you ensure that same level of dedicated attention carries over into daily assistance with meals and hydration?
  • 2Given the concerns some families have raised regarding response times for call lights, what is your current process for monitoring and ensuring staff are alerted and responding promptly to resident needs?
  • 3I see that you are active in responding to feedback online; how do you take that input from families and turn it into actionable improvements for your staff’s communication and care routines?

  • 5Could you walk me through your protocols for maintaining cleanliness and odor control in the common areas and resident rooms, and how often are these spaces deep-cleaned?
  • 6What does a typical day look like for residents in terms of social engagement and activities, and how do you encourage participation for those who might be more reserved?

Key Review Excerpts

The staff at Lanier were very efficient at transferring my long list of medications and supporting me during the transition. Angela, Rebecca and Marcy made the process of Rehab possible for me.

Rehab patient · 2023★★★★★

My father was admitted there for some short term care. The first things noticed is as soon as you r walk in the place has an overwhelming odor of urine. There are patients that a left wandering the halls or left in the hallways sleeping.

Long-term resident's family · 2018

My mom was left unattended for so long she attempted to get up by herself and fell. Twice she broke a leg, another time she was bruised around her eye and jaw so badly it looked like she'd been beaten.
