A relicensure survey was completed on 8/8/23. Deficiencies were cited. Based on interview and record review, the residence failed to ensure at least one staff member was onsite at all times who had current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and obstructed airway techniques from a nationally recognized organization, affecting 10 current residents.Findings Include:1. A recertification survey was completed on 8/8/23. A deficiency was cited. Based on observation, record review and interview, the facility (residence) failed to follow written policies and procedures for the administration of medication in accordance with 6 CCR 1011-1, Chapter VII Medication Administration Regulations, affecting 10 current participants (residents).Findings include:1. Chapter VII regulations governing assisted living residences, part 14.10, requires unless otherwise allowed by statute, the assisted living residence shall not permit a qualified medication administration person to perform any of the following tasks: (H) Pre-pouring of medication.Residence Policy The residence' s undated Medication Policy, read in part, "Unless otherwise allowed by statute the residence shall not permit a QMAP to perform any of the following tasks: Pre-pouring of medications ..."ObservationOn 8/8/23 at 7:15 a.m., Staff #1 had a tray with 10 medication cups with resident medications inside the cups. With each cup, was a name card to identify the correct resident. Staff #1 had the tray with medications in one hand while also serving breakfast to the residents. Staff #1 administered medications to each resident as she served them breakfast. InterviewsOn 8/8/23 at 9:31 a.m., Staff #1 stated she poured each of the resident' s medications into the medication cups then placed each cup with the correct resident name card. She stated that was always how she administered the medications. Staff #1 stated she had come from the skilled nursing facility and that was how they had administered medications, and was not trained otherwise. She stated she was unaware that a QMAP was not allowed to pre-pour medications. On 8/8/23 at 2:10 p.m., the administrator stated she was aware that the QMAPs pre-poured resident medications. She stated it was easier for them to do it that way, as they were the only staff onsite most of the time.
