What this means for your family

This facility is frequently praised for its rehabilitation staff, making it a potential option for short-term recovery. However, families should be aware of serious reports regarding medical oversight and facility maintenance; we strongly recommend asking for a tour of the specific unit your loved one will occupy and verifying their protocols for medical communication and pest control.

Maple Grove Senior Living (operating as Masonic Home of Shelbyville) receives polarized feedback, with many families praising the compassionate nursing staff and clean environment for short-term rehab. However, serious concerns regarding medical oversight, communication lapses, and facility maintenance—including reports of pests and neglect—are raised by several reviewers. Families should carefully vet the specific level of care required, as experiences appear to vary significantly between rehab and long-term personal care units.

Key Review Excerpts

My mother is an nsulin dependent type 2 diabetic. She was released from the hospital rather abruptly to the rehab facility. Somehow the rehab facility did not realize that she was diabetic for the first six days.

Rehab patient's family · 2024★★★★

She went in for physical Therapy , and after only 9 days of which she was in quarantine, she was neglected and mistreated to the point of a severe sore that covered most of her right side from the waist down!

Long-term resident's family · 2021☆☆☆☆

However when she moved to the personal care section, things got bad. First there was a mouse in the room and they acted like that was normal.
