What this means for your family

This facility is highly regarded for its clean environment and effective therapy programs, making it a strong candidate for rehabilitation. However, because some reviewers have reported significant delays in bedside assistance, we strongly recommend asking the administrator about current nurse-to-patient ratios and how they handle call-light response times during off-hours.

Johnson County Health and Rehab receives high praise for its clean, modern facility and dedicated therapy team, with many families expressing deep gratitude for the care provided to their loved ones. However, there are significant reports of slow response times for bedside assistance and concerns regarding the quality of physical therapy and dietary options. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, the presence of critical feedback regarding staffing responsiveness and management suggests a need for families to conduct a thorough tour and ask pointed questions.

Questions for Your Tour

  • 1I noticed your team is quite active in responding to feedback online; how do you use that family input to improve the daily experience for residents?
  • 2With your facility having a 4-star staffing rating, could you walk me through how you ensure timely assistance when a resident rings for help in their room?
  • 3Since your physical therapy team is highly regarded, how do you tailor those programs to ensure they feel personalized rather than one-size-fits-all for each resident?
  • 4Given the 4-star health inspection rating, what specific protocols do you have in place to maintain that high standard of care and cleanliness on a daily basis?
  • 5What are some of the most popular social activities or community events that help create that warm, home-like atmosphere I’ve heard about?
  • 6In the event of a medical emergency, what is your protocol for coordinating with local hospitals and keeping family members informed in real-time?

Key Review Excerpts

The therapists there were excellent and got her back on her feet, and she is now back home, good as new!

Long-term resident's family · 2025☆☆☆☆

If you needed help and used your bedside light, you could easily wait a couple of hours before anyone might check on you. The physical therapy was a joke and consisted of placing everyone in a circle and getting them to move their feet or hands.

Rehab patient · 2025☆☆☆☆

The only reason for four stars is the food menu is very limited if you eat a heart healthy diet.

This facility has a concerning pattern of recurring safety hazards, with accident prevention deficiencies appearing three times across surveys, including one complaint-triggered incident where a family filed a report. The facility also had repeated issues with food safety and problems with medication labeling and resident rights. While most deficiencies show correction dates, the persistence of safety concerns, particularly accident hazards, warrants careful consideration during any visit.
