What this means for your family

This facility is an excellent option for families seeking Medicaid-supported care and high-quality staff attention. However, you should inspect the specific unit your loved one will occupy to ensure the maintenance and carpeting meet your standards, as some areas of the building appear neglected.

Families can benefit from the facility's rare acceptance of Medicaid via the Star Plus waiver and a staff described by some as caring and highly qualified. However, there are significant concerns regarding facility maintenance, such as outdated carpeting and broken equipment, as well as a historical report of highly unprofessional administration.

Key Review Excerpts

Hillcrest AL proudly accepts Medicaid via the Star Plus waiver. They are 1 of 3 in the state of Texas that accepts Medicaid also! Such a great resource!

Community member · 2026★★★★★

All of the staff are caring & highly qualified. His apartment is so nice and large with a kitchenette and private bathroom!

Sibling of a resident with TBI · 2025★★★★★

There is always something that needs fixing and the facility vehicle is always in the fire lane to where their patrons have to walk or roll to get to their ride. They have refurbished several rooms while some have carpet that looks like it’s been soaked in coffee.
