What this means for your family

While some families report positive experiences with the nursing staff and recent facility updates, the recurring reports of patient safety incidents and extreme difficulty in reaching the facility by phone are significant red flags. We strongly recommend visiting in person during off-hours to observe staffing levels and asking management specifically how they ensure consistent communication with families.

Key Review Excerpts

My mother passed away at Highland. I have never been so overwhelmed in my life. Highland is not pretty to look at, that’s being honest. Yet, so much care and understanding is within.

Long-term resident's family · 2024★★★★★

This place is a death trap. If you love your love ones do NOT use this facility. My sister was there for one day day before they neglected her. She is an amputee. The bed did not have any kind of safety features.

Family member · 2026☆☆☆☆

These people never answer the phone. I have never in my life dealt with any type of business, let alone one that has people loved ones in their care that never answers the phone.

Families have filed complaints that triggered inspections revealing serious issues including resident abuse protection failures, accident hazards, and improper use of restraints. The facility shows recurring problems with safety hazards, medication management, and fire safety systems across multiple surveys. While most deficiencies have correction dates, the pattern of complaint-driven inspections and repeated safety violations in recent years raises concerns about consistent quality care.
