What this means for your family

While the facility is physically clean and offers strong rehabilitation services, the recurring reports of neglect and communication difficulties are significant red flags. We strongly advise families to conduct unannounced visits, specifically on weekends or evenings, and to interview the nursing staff directly about their patient-to-aide ratios before making a decision.

Google Reviews

Google Reviews

126 reviews on Google
Excel Care at Manalapan receives highly polarized feedback, with many reviewers praising the facility's cleanliness, modern aesthetic, and the dedication of specific therapy and nursing staff. Conversely, several families report serious concerns regarding neglect, understaffing, and unprofessional conduct, particularly within the memory care unit and during off-hours. Families considering this facility should weigh the positive reports of rehabilitation outcomes against the recurring complaints about communication barriers and inconsistent quality of care.

Key Review Excerpts

I was admitted from the hospital on a stretcher, unable to stand properly let alone walk. I checked out rejuvenated and walking with a cane. PT and OT did an outstanding job.

Rehab patient · 2025★★★★★

My father was treated like he wasn’t a human. He had gotten sudden onset dementia, moved in to excel care in January, and by May he passed away with pneumonia. There is no humanity towards the individuals in the “memory” wing.

Memory care family member · 2024☆☆☆☆

The only negative thing about this place is there is no way to leave a message when you want to check on your loved one. You have to keep calling every hour un hopes of being able to speak to some one.
