What this means for your family

While the facility has a dedicated patient advocate who is highly praised, the recurring reports of unsanitary conditions and neglect are critical red flags. If you choose this facility, ensure you have a family member present daily to advocate for your loved one's hygiene and medical needs, as communication from staff can be inconsistent.

Aviata at Saint Lucie (formerly Aspire) receives highly polarized feedback, with many residents and families praising specific staff members like Maxine for personal attention, while others report severe neglect, poor hygiene, and staffing shortages. While some patients find the rehab services effective and the atmosphere welcoming, a significant number of reviews describe a facility plagued by odors, pests, and unresponsive care. Families should be aware that the facility's reputation is heavily reliant on individual staff interactions rather than consistent, facility-wide standards.

Key Review Excerpts

My mother entered Aspire (now Aviata at Saint Lucie) for rehab after a hip fracture in March 2025. In just over two months she declined so severely she was hospitalized with pneumonia and sepsis and passed away. The nursing home never contacted me or my brother.

Long-term resident's family · 2025☆☆☆☆

I beg you, please don’t send your loved ones here. Do you notice all the good reviews sound the same and mention the same two people? Whole facility smells like urine. Roaches everywhere.

Family member · 2024☆☆☆☆

I was admitted to Aspire Rehabilitation at 6 pm on Wednesday December 20th. The first sense you receive upon entering is an offensive odor of urine. Upon arrival, I had an intake done & discovered that I was sharing a medium sized room with 3 other patients, with only a thin curtain for privacy.

Multiple families have filed complaints triggering serious deficiencies, including concerns about abuse protection, care planning, and medication management. The facility has faced recurring issues with resident safety, medication errors, care planning, and dietary services across multiple surveys from 2022 to 2024. While most violations have been corrected, the pattern of repeated problems in core care areas and the frequency of family complaints suggest ongoing quality concerns that prospective families should carefully consider before choosing this facility.
