What this means for your family

While many visitors report a clean environment and friendly staff, there are alarming reports of patient neglect and poor communication regarding medical status. We strongly advise you to conduct unannounced visits and ask specifically about their protocols for wound care and patient monitoring to ensure your loved one's safety.

Aurora Health and Rehabilitation receives a high volume of positive feedback regarding its friendly, welcoming staff and clean environment. However, there are serious, recurring allegations of neglect, including reports of untreated stage 4 pressure wounds, missed medical appointments, and poor hygiene in specific areas. Families should weigh the positive visitor experiences against these critical reports of inadequate clinical care.

Key Review Excerpts

My aunt is at this facility & less than 2 months she now has a stage 4 open wound on her bottom that’s now affected. My family was never notified about the wound from the beginning, nor was notified that the wound has became affected.

Memory care family member · 2025☆☆☆☆

The first week he was there they forgot to put him down for transportation to his doctor visit so he missed the appointment. The second week they did take him to his appointment but on his return to Aurora the evidently didn't have anything hiding him his wheelchair because he fell out 3 times.

Long-term resident's family · 2023☆☆☆☆

It’s always good to see all of the staff consistently working whenever I’m there visiting my uncle. I’m greeted with warm welcomes from both the staff and residents, and that says a lot about any place of business.
